Beyond that, Tinder has no control over who uses the app. But its primary use appears to be dating. In an article at Business Insider, Helen Fisher has defended the “superficial” nature of swiping on Twitter as no different than catching the eye of a cutie across the room:
In fact, Tinder’s growth cannot be explained by the pursuit of casual sex alone. It has 50 million users a day, most of them Millennials. Yet data shows that Millennials have fewer sex partners than the previous two generations. Just a tiny percentage of Tinder matches lead to sex, though perhaps a much larger percentage of casual fucks are initiated on Tinder.

Seth Rogan doesn’t do it for me personally, but he has proven he is capable of convincingly playing the leading man. Before seeing Knocked Up, you can’t imagine how Katherine Heigl’s character would ever go for him. And when you leave the theater, you’re not buying it. But during the movie you suspend disbelief. He doesn’t have his act together, but he has a good heart. The raw material is there. Ultimately, he is made a better man by his love for a woman. Now, that’s a boy that women can put their arms around.
